The Danish electrical sector has been under positive market conditions for more than 2 years, and the positive trend continues, driven by a high activity in the building and construction sector.
The building and construction sector increased its purchases during 2006 with almost 20%, whereby this sector established it self as the sector with the largest growth in Denmark. The growth in this area is driven by a continuous growth in the prices for private houses, vacation houses as well as flats, an increase seen for more than 10 years. The price level on housing has levelled out during the last months of 2006 and first months of 2007, generating small decreases in the price level and slower sales, which could indicate a long term effect on the level of new-building projects initiated.
The building and construction sector have expectations for 2007, which will continue on an unusually high level. One third of all companies in the building and construction sector indicates that the lack of workforce available, causes limitations in production capabilities, and thereby, that this factor is limitation of the possible growth.
