The purpose of ETIM International is to combine the various efforts at developing, maintaining, publishing and promoting a single European model for classifying products. Classification versions are currently available in English, German and Dutch, with Swedish, Spanish and French language versions soon to follow.
Sonepar is represented on the ETIM International board by Franz Ernst, the President of ETIM Deutschland and Managing Director of Sonepar Deutschland Information Services. “The establishment of ETIM International represents a crucial step in enabling this classification model to play an essential role internationally,” he said.
“ETIM International will help to convince manufacturers of the need to support a classification model designed for electro-technical products.”
Sonepar has for years been one of the leading users of the model. Located in Hanover, Germany, the Sonepar ETIM Center works constantly to enrich ETIM and supports all Sonepar countries around the world that wish to benefit from this classification model.
*ETIM (Electro Technical Information Model) is an article classification model for the electro-technical installation sector that describes the features of electro-technical products in terms of classes and characteristics. ETIM was developed to achieve control over a growing mass of information. The model makes it possible for each item to be clearly described, located, processed or easily to identify. ETIM simplifies communication between organizations operating in the business.
