ScanIT: a great addition to the Online Shop Andreas Pink, Pink Elektrotechnik GmbH, Germany
Andreas Pink, managing partner of the electrical installation company Pink Elektrotechnik GmbH in Düsseldorf, has been using ScanIT for nearly four weeks now. This new article scanner allows Sonepar Deutschland customers to scan articles from an individual barcode catalogue and transfer orders directly to the Sonepar online system.

Sonepar: Mr. Pink, how did you come upon ScanIT? Andreas Pink: I first heard about ScanIT at the customer advisory board meeting. The scanner was presented to us as an addition to the existing Sonepar online system. When the scanner was actually introduced at the beginning of this year, I approached Ralf Schneider, e-Business co-ordinator at Otto Kuhmann, directly.
Sonepar: What aroused your interest? A.P.: A weakness for new technologies is one of my professional reflexes. I am not just using ScanIT for fun, however. I expect it to facilitate the company’s work over the long term.
Sonepar: Where do you use ScanIT? A.P.: I primarily use the scanner in the store. When one of my fitters or I take the last article from the shelf, he scans the barcode or the EAN code, and I transfer the orders to the online system in the afternoon. Before, we had to fill in order slips by hand.
Sonepar: What are the advantages of ScanIT in your view? A.P.: Using the scanner saves time and increases reliability for orders. As you can imagine, order slips for supplying the store were sometimes forgotten or misplaced. In addition to adding value to the Sonepar order system, I foresee other possible applications. In the future, I will use the scanner to do the inventory.
Sonepar: So the scanner makes work easier? A.P.: Yes, definitely. It supplements existing systems and once again demonstrates why Sonepar Deutschland and its subsidiary Otto Kuhmann are successful. They are one step ahead and make efforts to stay there. Sonepar Deutschland is innovative, and its contact people are committed and helpful. Other things that differentiate Sonepar Deutschland from the competition are its online order system, which is constantly being enhanced, its central warehouse logistics and its delivery service.
