Cebeo’s e-shop saves time Sonepar Belgium - Cebeo
Belgian installers increasingly use Cebeo’s e-shop. The advantages have become obvious: it’s friendly, saves time and stays open until 7 p.m. Rik De Graaf, of Turnelec in Turnhout, specialises in wiring major chain stores. He no longer needs convincing to order from Cebeo’s e-shop. Mouse in hand, he uses his high-speed Internet connection to make his orders every day.

Sonepar: What percentage of your equipment do you order via Cebeo’s e-shop? Rik De Graaf: I actually place 99% of my Cebeo orders on the Internet. The reasons are obvious. My employees used to stand in line to purchase 10 metres of cable. They lingered, often having a coffee. I don’t hold that against them but the time spent cost me quite a bit of money.
Sonepar: So Cebeo’s e-shop helps you avoid those costs? R. D.G.: It does. My depot gradually became insufficient. Early this year, I decided to take everything out and put it on new shelves. Now everything is stocked based the model of a Cebeo agency. I use the same illustrations and item references as Cebeo’s e-shop. That greatly simplifies the ordering of new products. Re-organising my depot took a lot of work and time. But when I count the time I save today by ordering everything online, I realise that in the end it didn’t cost me anything.
Sonepar: Do you have to be a computer expert to work with Cebeo’s e-shop? R. D.G.: It’s not a matter of knowing how to use the computer; it’s more a matter of experience. You have to be thoroughly familiar with the products. That’s the most important condition for being able to use the e-shop easily. I learned the rest by practice. At first, of course I was a bit unsure, but as time went on it became second nature. Now I order almost everything on the e-shop. We only go to the agency when it’s absolutely necessary.
Sonepar: Cebeo’s e-shop stays open until 7 p.m. Is that an additional strong point? R. D.G.: No doubt about it. In general, I try to place my current orders in the morning, but unexpected things do come up and sometimes I’ve had to order a product from Cebeo’s e-shop shortly before seven o’clock. It’s very reassuring to know you can count on the e-shop. I certainly am!
Sonepar: Has Cebeo’s e-shop become an indispensable tool? R. D.G.: For me it’s obvious, and I’m sure installers still reluctant to use it will soon get over their inhibitions because it’s a tool of the future!
