In seven years, a building complex spanning 60,000 square meters was fully renovated thanks to a partnership between the installer Klima Vandenbroucke and Cebeo

Klima Vandenbroucke and Cebeo's central store have at least one thing in common: they both moved recently. Cebeo's move took it to Mouscron, while Klima Vandenbroucke settled in nearby, in Aalbeke. The cloth works Poortere Frères, which also opted for Mouscron, asked Klima Vandenbroucke to install the air conditioning and lighting in its newly renovated office and factory complex. As the old proverb has it, a close friend is better than a distant relative. Marc Vandenbroucke, head of the company, attests to the validity of this ancient wisdom.
Marc Vandenbroucke: Now that we're almost neighbors, equipment sourcing and supply have become a little easier. Plus, I have personal contact with Cebeo an advantage that I really appreciate. I know exactly whom I need to see at Cebeo, and I don't get passed on from one person to the next. In my opinion, this is what really sets Cebeo apart in addition to its solid technical expertise.
Sonepar: You also worked closely with Cebeo on the big Poortere Frères renovation project. What was Klima Vandenbroucke's role there? M.V.: In this case, the term total project is apt. We took care of the lighting and the air conditioning, in the offices as well as in the factory building where the fabrics and upholstery are woven and dyed. It was a truly outstanding project. In seven years, a 60,000 square meter building was renovated inside and out. Luc Royaux, the general manager, knew exactly what he wanted and this included the best equipment available.
Sonepar: What were the client's requirements? M.V.: The new manager has an open-door management policy. Offices are located in the front of the building. Before, they were tiny cubicles. Each one was meticulously separated from the others by false walls. Those walls had to go. In their place stands a single, well-lit open space. The lighting had to reflect this new transparency and warmth. We were able to achieve the effect we wanted using Philips equipment exclusively. As for the air conditioning system, the managers point of departure was that air conditioning was necessary, but it had to be discreet. We share this philosophy. The air conditioning casing with ice water is one of our own designs. The system is custom managed by PLC. Cebeo's software and support were critical to the process.
Sonepar: What made this project special for you? M.V.: When you perceive the beauty of the finished product which is enhanced by the indoor and outdoor lighting and you realize that the comfortable temperatures in the offices and factory have improved working conditions, you feel immense pride in having played a part in bringing that about. To me, this achievement is a great calling card for our business. I think the same is true for Cebeo.
