Exco Electric Ventures Ltd. Owner and President, Peter Hirschfeld, developed a relationship with Gescan shortly after he founded the company, in 1982. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Exco originally specialized in residential contracting. Today, they focus on large commercial and industrial projects, and voice/data communication installations. The company also boasts a thriving service department.

Over the years, Exco has developed strong partnerships with their customers. “Our customers have evolved from small jobs and service calls to long term relationships,” acknowledges Peter. These relationships have provided additional opportunities throughout Canada and have helped the company secure a number of local and national accounts. In order to foster these relationships, Exco provides after-project service. “If the customer isn’t confident enough to call us back after the project is finished, then the project was not successful.” Peter feels this value-added service is the key to their success.

Exco’s ability to diversify and service different customers is crucial to their future in contracting. It is also the fundamental reason why Exco and Gescan work so well together. “The number of Gescan branches, their ability to source products, and their competitive pricing and excellent service continues to exceed my expectations,” remarked Peter. “Gescan has been part of our success from the beginning, and the relationship continues to grow as the business grows.”

Branch Manager, Mike Chowen, says that loyal customers, like Exco, are an integral part of Gescan Winnipeg’s success. “We pride ourselves in ensuring that our customers have confidence in our team and that they come to us for all their electrical needs.”

Confidence in Gescan is exactly what Peter has. “Gescan’s project department has been very accommodating - they meet their commitments and manage projects until they are complete. It is reassuring to know that we can count on our Sales Representative, Cory Pilbeam, and his team, to promptly solve any problems that may arise.”

Peter values Gescan’s online ordering and pricing, their Express Pick-up counter, and the emergency service line. He considers them added benefits of being a Gescan customer. For instance, Gescan’s Express Pick-up area ensures that Exco’s foremen are in and out with their material within minutes. In addition, the 24-hour emergency service line works well with Exco’s 24-hour service department.
