Jiri Smetana, Jr., procurement manager at Lux spol. s.r.o., describes the cooperation between Lux and Elektram, Sonepar’s Czech subsidiary.
Sonepar: What type of business do you operate?
J. S : “Lux was created in 1992 through the privatisation of TESLA Passive Components’ equipment production division. The company designed and built equipment for the manufacture of axial resistors, such as vacuum-spraying machines, CO2 and YAG laser cutting machines, welding machines and sorters,” says Smetana. When electronic multinationals arrived on the Czech market, Lux seized this growth opportunity. The manager adds proudly that Lux has since tripled its sales volume and increased its staff by 50%. To be competitive with other multinationals, Lux obtained ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
Sonepar: In what way is Elektram a good partner?
J. S : “In 2007, we were selected to build an automated assembly line for a large company. Elektram helped us with this large project by providing good prices and excellent logistics,” says Smetana. “By bundling purchases of electrical equipment from a single supplier, Elektram saved us time and money. Thanks to these services, we were able to build the completely automated assembly line within the deadline.”
Sonepar: How do you plan to work with Elektram in the future?
J. S : “We’re certain that our business relationship will continue to grow and that the sales volume handled by Elektram will increase as long as we’re satisfied with its services,” says Smetana.
