Sonepar: What does the job of branch correspondent at the CGE D central warehouse in Moissy-Cramayel involve? M.C.: I’m in charge of following up on orders from all the branches in the West and Northeast regions as well as some branches in the Rhone-Alps region. There are four network correspondents in Moissy. Each of us is responsible for a region. Most of my phone contact is with branch suppliers who call me to find out about delivery times or to follow up on a product. More and more deliveries for the end customer are directly prepared at the central warehouse, so good product traceability is a must. Then I do research using software to make sure that the delivery order has been issued. We have to be reactive and settle incidents as fast as possible, such as: - Packages that stay on the platform because there’s not enough room in the trucks, - Products that are misplaced or misdirected. Generally speaking, no news is good news.
Normally, deliveries take place within 24 hours (allotted orders*, repairs, direct deliveries). Restocking can be done within 48 hours.
Sonepar: What do you like about your job? M.C.: There’s a good atmosphere at work. I like talking on the phone and in my job that accounts for 70% to 80% of my time. I really enjoyed meeting branch suppliers from the West region when they took a tour of the central warehouse in Moissy that was organized by the West regional management in January 2005. That was a really nice day! Plus, putting a face to a name or voice that you’ve sometimes known for years definitely strengthens the relations between correspondents. That experience should be carried out in all the regions.
