A happy winner of the Schonbek Prize

Colin Casey of Sonepar USA, residential lighting specialist

Colin Casey began his career in residential lighting in 1980, as a lighting showroom salesman. He then devoted the next seventeen years to learning the industry ropes.

A seasoned professional
With a degree under his belt, Colin Casey next joined Soneapr USA subsidiary Cooper Electric in 1997, working as a lighting specialist in the Middletown showroom. There he was able to hone his skills and acquire expertise in exterior residential lighting. His current work and passion is sconces, cove and accent lighting, not to mention lighting control systems integration. He generally uses Lightolier, Lutron and Hai, US-based manufacturers.

A coveted interior design prize
Colin recently won a Schonbek Grand Prize. The renowned Schonbek Contest recognizes creativity and excellence in the use and placement of lighting. Schonbek is an acknowledged leader in the lighting industry, and its annual prize has helped to set the industry standard for a number of years. The company’s reputation in room design is reflected in the popularity of its original chandeliers in cutting-edge home interiors.
To select last year's contest winner, Schonbek representatives looked at 1,732 home photos, showing extravagantly decorated rooms lit with crystal chandeliers, before singling out the Strauss family home as the most outstanding achievement of 2003. Congratulations to Colin Casey of Cooper-Electric, whose astonishing work was rewarded with a Grand Prize from Schonbek.

Happy and grateful customers
As for the Strauss family, they were so pleased with their new lighting system that they naturally thought Colin would be an ideal contestant for the Schonbek Prize. Colin's ingenuity, as well as his extensive experience in lighting, resulted in excellent building design and product use. Indeed, even the most famous interior designers would be envious.
While Colin was delighted to win, he took even greater pleasure in seeing the look of satisfaction on the face of the happy homeowners when they pushed the button on their new lighting system.

The beauty and elegance of this achievement will surely speak volumes to other customers about the talent and energy of Colin and Cooper Electric.
