Merijn Ingelse enters in the Sonepar Junior Committee

Otra Information Services, Sonepar Nederland

At the beginning of this year, Merijn Ingelse, team leader Lotus Notes and project leader IT Purchase Projects at OIS (Technische Unie), became a member of the Sonepar Junior Committee. His membership means that OIS is represented on the SJC for the first time. Of course, I'm honoured by this appointment, says Merijn, but I'm also very pleased.

Theory and practice at SJC
This committee is a force of proposal, a idea reserve, a breeding ground of young collaborators which combines broadmindedness and common sense. Its role is to analyze, and develop projects for the group, according to management request. For Merijn, the SJC is a real inspiration source. You find out about others countries problems, you hear people's point of view, and encounter different cultures and maintain intensive contacts with Sonepar collaborators from all over the world.

A varied career
Merijn Ingelse joined OIS as a Mainframe programmer in 1997, straight after completing his Business Management studies at the School for Business Administration and Economics in Groningen. At OIS, he says, he followed the usual career path in automation; from a programmer, he first developed his skills as technical designer and then as functional designer. Subsequently, he became an information analyst. With all those different positions I can already look back on a very varied career, he says, It's so diverse, it's hard to imagine that it all happened in the same company.

Ahead in the use of Lotus Notes
In early 2004, Merijn was appointed team leader of Lotus Notes. In the Technische Unie organisation, this package serves as groupware, a workflow tool, a mail tool and for storing documentation. Personally, I find it a challenge to share our knowledge and experience as widely as possible with the other Sonepar-countries. Databases and basic functions can simply be copied and translated. This saves a lot of developing work elsewhere.
