Joining Canadian General Electric as a graduate of Operations Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1971, his first position was an Inventory Analyst.
That same year, CGE created the name Gescan (General Electric Supply Canada). Since then, Chuck has held various management positions in Marketing, Finance, Purchasing, Distribution, and Inventory Control.
These different roles kept Chuck moving – literally. From British Columbia to Ontario to Saskatchewan and back again, he certainly gained a sense of the business on a national level.
In 1989, Gescan joined Sonepar. “This was quite exciting for us, because the existing owner was no longer in a position to fund further growth. The purchase by Sonepar was a clear signal of hope and future prosperity,” says Chuck.
In 2001, he accepted the challenge as Pricing Manager for Gescan West, and with his team, helped to improve the warehouse margin.
After 35 years, he has seen the business in good times and bad.
“Gescan is here today, working in a successful business with a bright future, simply because the Sonepar family stood by us and had faith in us,” he says.
His tenure at Gescan has most certainly contributed to this success, with experience and drive that few can match. Gescan looks forward to seeing what new changes it may face together with him in the future.
