“My first contact to the electrical wholesale business was in 1981 when I started as warehouseman. I finished some advanced trainings with a degree as certified quality manager and safety officer the following years. In 1995 I joined Sonepar as warehouse and quality manager at IEH (Industrie Elektro Handelsgesellschaft mbh & Co. KG) an operating company in the very western part of Germany employs 100 associates. Since 2002 I am logistics manager for IEH’s sister company Otto Kuhmann which has more than 230 employees.
Being logistics manager means being in charge for the entire supply chain within the company including setting up of controlling systems and optimising as well as enhancing the logistic process and efficiency.
Logistics means being the interface between the purchase and the sales department on the one hand and the customers on the other hand. This mission is sometimes the melting pot of business and makes the job most attractive and challenging. If the supply chain does not fit to daily business demands or if internal procedures fail one immediately gets response by “involved” parties.
Therefore, motivated people, optimised processes, automation where useful and finally IT-systems on a high standard are keys to success.
To keep this level in the coming years the continuous promotion of new blood is of the essence. Having well educated and trained employees at the right time on the right place will secure Sonepar’s future success.”
