Founded in 1956 in the city of Saint-Etienne by Jean-Jacques Teissier, the company started out with a workforce of three. After joining the Sonepar group in 1976, Teissier steadily expanded to a total of eight branches and sales of €18.3 million five years later. Since 1997, René Colomb has been at the helm of the ge,eral Management, which currently has 338 associates and 28 branches:
- 21 multi-product branches
- 3 branches devoted to architectural lighting
- 3 branches devoted to industry
- 1 branch devoted to light sources
These 4th Encounters began with a tour of the stockroom at the Saint-Etienne logistics center. Known as PRESTO, this center currently carries 15,900 products. It enables the company to have a wide range of products available at all times and to meet delivery deadlines. In addition, it makes for simpler, more reliable product sourcing.
In the presence of the Sonepar Sud-Est Management Committee, associates were then invited to attend a conference with talks by René Colomb (CEO – Teissier), Dominique Vinay (Executive Director – Sonepar Sud-Est), André Geindre (Head of Markets – Sonepar Sud-Est) and Serge Perramond (Head of Quality and Sécurity – Teissier).
Although the gathering went on until late in the evening, everyone was up in time on Saturday morning to visit Saint-Etienne’s leading museums: the Mining Museum, the Modern Art Museum, the Museum of Art and Industry and the Conservatory of France’s Most Accomplished Craftsmen. Associates were given the rare opportunity of trying their hand at journalism and writing a vital page in Teissier’s corporate history.
These 4th Teissier Encounters came to a close at the legendary Geoffroy Guichard Stadium as all associates present posed for a photo designed to immortalize the event.
For the entire Teissier team, this 50th anniversary will be remembered as the high point of 2006.
