Sonepar USA: two acquisitions
Acquisition of Friedman Electric Supply
Friedman Electric Supply joined Sonepar USA on September 30, 2006.
Founded in 1940, the company is based in Exeter, Pennsylvania. With a workforce of 270 at twelve locations, Friedman Electric Supply sells electrical equipment to contractors (in the residential and service sectors), and it boasts no less than 11 showrooms dedicated to lighting. We are very pleased that managing director Rob Friedman and his management team will continue to head the company.
This new acquisition will give Sonepar USA an expanded footprint in the Northeastern United States.
CW Utilities joins Stuart Irby
Stuart Irby, a Sonepar USA subsidiary, bought out CW Utilities in September 2006.
A single-location distributor based in Houston, Texas with a staff of 18, CW Utilities is specialized in the electrical utilities industry, the company does most of its business with local utilities and local government authorities. Its former owners, John and Katty Sampieri, have chosen to work for Stuart Irby.
Coinciding with the Priester Supply & RE Supply acquisitions, this latest purchase will enhance Stuart Irby’s position in the utilities market.
Sonepar Ibérica: acquisition of Dielectro Balear
The company Dielectro Balear has just joined Sonepar Ibérica.
Founded in 1951, Dielectro Balear is the number one electrical distributor in the Balearic Islands. The company has a staff of 140 operating out of 5 branches and it will continue to be run by Damián Company.
This acquisition reflects Sonepar Ibérica’s strategy aimed at improving its coverage of Spain’s local markets. It is Sonepar Iberica’s first external growth transaction since 1992.
