A unique meeting to deal with the growing needs of local government
The SMCL is a one-of-a-kind conference that brings together public decision-makers and suppliers of goods and services to local government. At one and the same time a source of information, a showcase for new products and services and an opportunity to share experiences, this year’s conference drew 45,000 visitors, elected officials, regional decision-makers and major figures in urban life.
The expanded scope of responsibility granted to local government and the increasing professionalism shown by regional decision-makers have made this conference a valuable instrument for dealing with the new issues facing regional administrations.
800 exhibitors representing 93 business lines were organized into 8 thematic areas:
- Urban development
- IT / Telecommunications
- Construction / Public Works / Road Maintenance
- Institutional / Finance / Services to Local Government
- Energy
- Environment
- Equipment / Transport
- Prevention / Security / Community
The CGE D and Sonepar France stands
As in previous years, CGE D was present with an impressive stand featuring a variety of industry products in the Environment / Energy area.
Just beside CGE D, the four other Sonepar France regions were there as well, sharing a stand they put together for the occasion. Visitors were treated to a scale model of a city with the various kinds of lighting that Sonepar France specialists have to offer. This replica served to draw attention to the influence of lighting and color on buildings. Lighting sculpts, highlights, underscores urban construction, thereby giving rise to a different view of architecture and location. The scale model is lit up by an LED three-color system.
“LEDs are ideally suited to urban settings and technical departments. When used to light up both city neighborhoods and historical monuments, they offer significant advantages, from low energy consumption—which makes them longer-lasting and easier to keep up—to reduced light pollution. In this way, we take part in the Blue Way development and action program initiated by Sonepar,” stated Alain Meyet, the technical lighting consultant at Sonepar Sud-Est and the man behind the scale model.
Associates from Sonepar France and CGE D responded to the many questions asked
by clients and electrical contractors on the measures on collecting Electrical and Electronic Waste introduced as of November 15, 2006.
International Télécommunication and Socame, both of them subsidiaries of CGE D, were also present in the Prevention, Security, Community area. Their stand showcased a variety of video surveillance products.
And large numbers of local and regional officials stopped by to talk to the sales managers of these different Sonepar entities.
The operation was clearly a success!
