Dimensional joins Sonepar South America
Founded in 1971 by José Toledo, Dimensional headquartered in Limeira, in the State of São Paulo, serves the industrial market, particularly in automation, process control and motors. With a staff of 170, Dimensional has 7 branches in four States of Brazil, including São Paolo and Minas Gerais, where Sonepar has had no presence until now. This move to acquire an equity stake is thus in line with Sonepar’s strategy of developing a footprint in Brazil’s heavily industrial regions.
Sonepar South America now holds a 51% interest in the entity. The founder’s son Silvino Toledo and his team will be staying on to run Dimensional.
Comercial Elétrica DW, a subsidiary of Sonepar South America, takes over Walter Schmidt’s electrical equipment distribution business.
Located in the city of Blumenau, Walter Schmidt is Brazil’s oldest distributor (96 years in business), and is the number one supplier of electrical equipment to the industrial market in the south of the State of Santa Catarina. Walter Schmidt will be run as before by Bruno Nebelung, the founder’s great-grandson.
Dimensional and Walter Schmidt have thus joined DW, Proelt Emel, and Eletronor strengthening the leader position of Sonepar South America in Brazil.
This is a good opportunity to remind that:
- Distribution leader in the State of Parana, DW, is a company serving the industrial market. With Adir Dissenha and Edson Luis Wamser at its head, DW has 4 branches.
- Operating in the State of Santa Catarina, Proelt, DW’s subsidiary, is a single-branch outfit serving the industrial market with Almir Lopes at its head.
- Directed by Tomas Richetta, Emel, a broad-based company with 3 branches, is the distribution leader in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
- Fernando Velho heads Eletronor specialized in automation equipment. Eletronor totals 3 branches in the States of Parana and Rio Grande do Sul
