To celebrate Sonepar’s 50th year, we’re talking to 50 employees from around the world about their most memorable moments working for Sonepar and its brands, and what they love about being part of the team. For the first installment in the series, we talked to associates from China, Australia, Finland, Mexico and Spain.

 

Guillermo Peralta is an Implementation Leader at Vallen in Mexico. He’s been with Vallen for 17 years.

What’s been your favorite moment while? "Wow, tough question! The most recent was at the Vallen Expo 2017. Marie-Christine Coisne-Roquette presented Sonepar’s mission and showed us the importance of Vallen. She made me proud to be part of this great family."

Tell us one thing you love about working there. "Sonepar is constantly growing and that generates new challenges and new opportunities for me to be able to grow within Sonepar."

Tell us something that feels different about working at Sonepar. "Sonepar is a very big company but it has not lost its family business identity. Communicating this to our associates is one of the things I love the most."

Meihua Jiang is a Customer Service Manager at the Sonepar company Witjoint Automation in China. She’s been there for 17 years.

What has been your favorite moment? "Beating our monthly order and sales targets through the combined efforts of our team."

Tell us one thing you love about working there. "I love to help salespeople manage their challenges, allowing them to focus on providing even more added value to customers and businesses."

Tell us something that feels different about working at Witjoint Automation. "Witjoint people make a difference. We have our own unique culture. Respectful, pragmatic, professional, innovative; we all manage our tasks with passion and positive energy, in a proactive atmosphere, every day."

Cody Burfield is a Branch Manager at the Sonepar company Lawrence & Hanson in Moranbah, Australia. He’s been there for almost three years.

What has been your favorite moment? "My favorite moment so far was getting the chance to open and run a brand-new branch. I learnt so many valuable lessons from experiencing this rare opportunity."

Tell us one thing you love about working there. "The people. We have a great team  at Lawrence & Hanson, with decades of experience and knowledge, and the willingness to help each other out. I believe we are heading in the right direction."

Tell us something that feels different about working at Lawrence & Hanson. "The little things make all the difference – willingness to help each other when needed, the opportunities to learn and progress through the company, even Taco van Vroonhoven, the leader of Lawrence & Hanson, shaking the hand of every person in the room before leaving a business meeting."

Karoliina Berggren just started her role as a Payroll Accountant / HR Specialist for the Sonepar company Slo Oy, in Finland.

What has been your favorite moment so far? "In this short space of time it’s impossible to name one particular moment, but it has been fabulous to discover that the whole company is full of fantastic people!"

Tell us one thing you love about working there. "My work teaches me a lot and challenges me every single day. That motives me more than anything else."

Tell us something that feels different about working at Slo Oy. "It is immensely interesting to be a part of such a large and international group."

Sandra de Linos Sanz has worked in the Legal and Compliance Dept of Sonepar Spain for one year.

What’s been your favorite moment so far? "When we developed the “Compliance Challenge” campaign. We recorded an advertising video encouraging all Sonepar Ibérica employees to participate and win a €1,000 donation to the NGO of their choice."

Tell us one thing you love about working at Sonepar. "I love my daily work. Sonepar is a company that makes me feel valued and involved in new projects. I feel that my thoughts and ideas are taken into account."

Tell us something that feels different about working at Sonepar. "Although the eight companies that make up Sonepar Ibérica are located all over the place, there is a lot of camaraderie and a great atmosphere. Sonepar Ibérica is like one big family."
