In the fifth part of our series celebrating Sonepar’s associates around the world, we're talking to five more members of our global team about their experiences being part of the Sonepar family.
Pissamai Senaprom is a Strategic Sourcing Specialist at Vallen in Thailand. She's been with the company for 10 years.
What has been your favorite moment while working at Vallen / Sonepar? I immediately think of our “Outing Moments” – when we all get together for a group activity. We really have fun and it's a very joyful day.
Tell us one thing you love about working here. “I love working here because we have a beautiful work environment and the colleagues are like brothers and sisters. During work we share, we brainstorm, we discuss the problem – we even sometimes argue about work, but at the end of the day everything always returns to an equal and trusting relationship.”
Tell us something that feels different about working here. “Working here... It's not just a place to work. It's like coming to meet friends, sisters, brothers who make me feel very comfortable. We share our working life together, and we share our personal stories with the rest of the team."
Shaun Hansen is a Regional Manager for Lawrence & Hanson South Central. He's been with the company for more than 16 years.
What has been your favorite moment so far while working at Sonepar? "My favorite moment was just recently, when I was appointed Regional Manager, which made me terrifically proud, but also – from the company's point of view – it's great to give them a positive return on the time and resources they've invested in my development.
Tell us one thing you love about working here. "I love to spread the word about the great work we do here. I’ve been approached by competitors to work for them, but have never had a reason to want to go elsewhere. Here, we are provided with the tools to improve ourselves both personally but also professionally. We have great people, fantastic opportunities to rise through our business, and an environment that does put people first (it’s not just a slogan!)."
Tell us something that feels different about working here. "It feels like the Sonepar family values aren’t lost on its many regions, companies and countries, and that as a business they do live the motto of being 'la reference', whilst continuing to challenge the way in which we do business and seeking ambitious growth."
Ruth Toledo is a Purchase Deputy Manager at Vallen in Mexico. She's been with the company for more than five years.
What has been your favorite moment while working at Sonepar / Vallen in all that time? "Being considered to participate at the senior leadership meeting last year, because it gave me more of a complete vision of the Group."
Tell us one thing you love about working at here. "To come here and be happy every day. I guess I’m lucky, not only for having a job, but for having it AND loving what I do."
Tell us something that feels different about working here. "They truly make you feel part of a big family. They consistently care about their people and the environment."
Yves Bigler is the Director of Buying at Sonepar Switzerland.
What has been your favorite moment at Sonepar? "At the Sonepar Leadership Meeting in Chicago in 2008, they celebrated my birthday during the official evening. It was the 01/10, but my birthday is on 10/01 – a mix up between date writing styles! It’s a memory that always makes me laugh."
Tell us one thing you love about working at Sonepar. "It is a big group, but with family spirit."
Tell us something that feels different about working at Sonepar. "I feel good at Sonepar. There is always a new challenge and the market evolves a lot with regards to changes in the digital sector, which leads to a constant questioning of the status quo.”
Dominik Chvojka is one of the longest serving employees with Sonepar Česká Republika – 23 years.
What has been your favorite moment while working at Sonepar? "I have three favorite moments during my 23-year career with the company. All were associated with my promotions. Thanks to the promotion, I got a new impetus and the opportunity to expand my knowledge and apply my experience in the field. At the same time it created new challenges for me."
Tell us one thing you love about working at Sonepar. "This is related to my previous answer. Sonepar offers everyone who has the desire and goals the chance to develop their skills and move ahead. At the same time, it's an inspiring and progressive company with a clear vision, which is personally important to me."
Tell us something that feels different about working at Sonepar. "In view of my many years at Sonepar, I can objectively say that communication, environment, care for employees and stability are factors that I can appreciate in Sonepar, and thanks to which Sonepar ranks among those companies with high status."
