This week, Chief Communications Officer and Sustainability Matt Pothecary made a statement on Sonepar's commitment to our planet.
We can plug our customers into sustainability
We all know the environmental crisis before us is the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced. We need to make a radical shift – in how we use the earth's natural resources.
And in particular, in how we create and use the energy that powers our economy, our cities, our homes, our world.
Sustainable development is at the very core of Impact, our strategic business plan, and the Planet pillar was one of our primary areas of focus in 2019.
The Group is fully committed to placing the planet at the core of its vision. It is preparing for future energy transition challenges by promoting energy efficient products, and raising awareness on sustainability internally using e-learning solutions, such as creating the Sonepar Energy Transition Academy. More details on this will follow in the coming months.
In 2019, Sonepar measured its carbon footprint for the first time and will now work very hard on reducing its carbon footprint in the coming years. We plan to be in line with the Paris Agreement to limit the rise in world temperature below 2°c for 2050.
Sonepar will soon be launching 10 easy to follow commitments which will enable us all to have the right everyday behaviours to promote sustainability, at work and at home.
We are Sonepar.
