Sonepar Belgium has sold its shares in Eltra nv and Elar bv to the Heylen Group, subject to approval by the Belgian competition authority.
Waregem, March 17, 2020 - Sonepar Belgium has sold its shares in Eltra nv and Elar bv to the Heylen Group, subject to approval by the Belgian competition authority. The sales agreement was signed on March 11th 2020.
Eltra nv is active in the distribution of electrical do-it-yourself equipment. The decision was made because Sonepar Group and Sonepar Belgium want to focus further on its strategic core activities, and the DIY market is not a part of that strategy.
Nevertheless, it is our intention to let Eltra grow further. We are strongly convinced that the Heylen Group will be able to invest more in Eltra, so that the future of Eltra’s associates and customers are assured.
Sonepar Belgium sees a favorable future for Eltra with the Heylen Group as its shareholder as its roots are in Antwerp and this acquisition is perfectly in line with their strategy. The Heylen Group already operates in logistics, retail and real estate.
Lastly, the Heylen Group is filing this acquisition subject to the approval by the Belgian Competition Authority, which is expected to give its feedback around the end of March - beginning of April.
