In the seventh part of our series celebrating Sonepar’s associates around the world, we're talking to five more members of our global team about their experiences being part of the Sonepar family.
Chang Khaw Mong is a Regional Business Analytics Manager at Vallen in Singapore. He's been part of the team for five years.
What has been your favorite moment while working at Vallen / Sonepar? "I love any moment when I have to face a new challenge. Our people here are always showing their passion in order to tackle new challenges together. That makes me feel we are not working alone – we are a team."
Tell us one thing you love about working here. “One of the things that I love about working at Vallen is it's a place where challenges and opportunities are available all the time. If you are willing to take up new challenges, you will have opportunities for development and progression.”
Tell us something that feels different about working here. “We are in an environment where our people are respected, inspired, coached and supported for taking initiatives and generating new ways of working. In short, we try our best to drive our profit and to ensure we are always the best in our industry."
João Munhoz is a Sales Supervisor for Dimensional, a Sonepar brand in Brazil. He is also celebrating his 50th year in 2019.
What has been your favorite moment so far while working at Dimensional / Sonepar? “It was in March 2016, when I was invited to be responsible for the contract department supervision in Campinas City. Then I had the opportunity to participate in the department's expansion process, identifying and developing new talents with Sonepar’s DNA, preparing them for new challenges and for the achievement of the expected results."
Tell us one thing you love about working here. "Working for a market leader, that delivers its best every day and is dedicated to ensuring that each team member not only achieves the expected results, but surpasses them."
Tell us something that feels different about working here. "Sonepar is a company that is constantly looking for the best. This gives to you the passion to be always ready and alert for new challenges."
Riitta Haapala is an Accounting Assistant at Sonepar brand SLO Oy, in Finland. She's been with the company for 39 years.
You've been with the company almost 40 years – what an achievement. What has been your favorite moment? "It is great that one can enjoy working in one single place so much for such a long time. Since 1980 time has just flown by!"
Tell us one thing you love about working at here. "Throughout all these decades, job versatility has been one of the major attractions of this workplace."
What made you join SLO Oy? "I joined the company when I was very young so there are no comparisons, but it is truly hard to believe that working anywhere else could be more agreeable than here."
Yew Sheau Huey (Joanne Yew) is the Vice-President of Supply Chain at KVC, a Sonepar brand in Malaysia. She has been with the company for 20 years.
What has been your favorite moment at KVC / Sonepar? "I feel great when I see that my team and I have achieved the desired results in our evolution towards a fully digital supply chain. We're witnessing the improvement brought about by leveraging data and automated systems that focus on inventory, pricing, productivity and customer experiences."
Tell us one thing you love about working here. “I like the culture and core values at Sonepar/KVC. We are trusted, appreciated and allowed to take the initiative to get things done. Associates are committed and collaborate across functions and countries in all aspects to achieve a common objective."
Tell us something that feels different about working there. “Sonepar/KVC provides an ongoing opportunity to learn, develop and grow. Functional expertise is leveraged across the Group to accelerate development and the transformation process of the operating companies to adapt to change, accommodate new trends and technology, and incorporate new skills."
Julia Santaolalla Leiva is the E-commerce Manager at Sonepar brand Sonibética, in Spain. She's been with the company for more than 20 years.
What has been your favorite moment while working at Sonibética / Sonepar? "In the professional field: I really enjoyed the year 2005, when we started the e-commerce project with our branches. It was a success due to the expectation it generated in our customers. In the year 2008, we started a Business Intelligence project, and that was another interesting challenge for me. In my working environment: the Insights Discovery training I was able to take allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of the team I work with every day."
Tell us one thing you love about working here. "The continuous challenges that we have. They make each day different. I think that Sonepar is a visionary company that is constantly coming up with new ideas and initiatives and looking towards the future. This makes the work exciting. We are all working toward a common goal."
Tell us something that feels different about working at Sonepar. "Sonepar just has a different way of life! At Sonepar, I have achieved a motivation for continuous learning. I have acquired a lot of flexibility, which for me means the ability to adapt and work in different situations and with different people, as well as the ability to adapt myself to different environments. I have also learned to find resilience; the ability to overcome the adverse situations in life and being able to emerge reinforced and strengthened."
