World Day for Safety and Health at Work: Raising Awareness

26.05.2026

World Day for Safety and Health at Work, marked every year on April 28, is a global opportunity to raise awareness about preventing workplace accidents and protecting health. In 2026, this moment brought strong engagement across Sonepar, reflecting a shared commitment to safety and prevention.

At Sonepar, creating a safe and healthy work environment relies on daily awareness, prevention, and collective commitment across all our activities, countries, and teams. It is rooted in the belief that safety is everyone’s responsibility, at every level of the organization.

Around 17,000 associates took part in World Day for Safety and Health at Work initiatives worldwide. These actions illustrate the strength of a global culture built on shared standards and local engagement.

Sonepar’s approach to health and safety is built on strong leadership engagement, field presence, and continuous improvement. Leaders at every level are encouraged to set clear expectations, lead by example, and engage teams in open dialogue about risks and prevention.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work serves as a key milestone to reinforce these principles, while recognizing the daily efforts made throughout the year to protect people and prevent incidents.

To mark the day, our teams around the world organized a wide range of local initiatives, adapted to their operational environments and priorities.

  • In Chile, associates took part in forklift competitions, safety breaks, awareness campaigns, and CPR training.
  • In Peru, teams reflected on past workplace incidents to reinforce safety awareness, followed by leadership-led communications;
  • In Malaysia, fire drills and firefighting training sessions were held at CDC’s new offices to strengthen emergency preparedness.
  • In India, the focus was on health and well-being, with a General Health Check-Up, Health Boot Camp, and Medical Camp promoting preventive healthcare and awareness.
  • In Germany, Gemba walks and safety walks on the shopfloor helped identify potential risks and reinforce daily safety practices;
  • In Poland, associates participated in first aid training combining theory and hands-on practice, covering emergency response basics and CPR techniques.
  • In France, fire safety training was integrated into on-site visits using an immersive virtual fire simulator, making sessions more practical and accessible.
