The magical and spectacular Fête des Lumières event returned to Lyon from December 5- 8, 2024.
Over these four evenings, visitors strolled through the streets and enjoyed a magical atmosphere to discover the sound and light shows illuminated onto the city's most famous monuments: Cathédrale Saint-Jean, Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière, Place des Terreaux, Place Bellecour... the list goes on.
Once again, Sonepar France, a founding member of the Fête des Lumières, is proud to renew its commitment to this world-renowned event, alongside the City of Lyon and EDF.
For this new edition, Sonepar France chose to sponsor two works of art:
Created by students from various art schools, on Place Saint-Nizier and Quai Saint-Antoine. Through this sponsorship, Sonepar continues its commitment to helping tomorrow's talents shine, highlighting their innovative ideas.
This work follows the story's astonishing main character: a fiber lamp that glows eternally in a shed. L'Enfant Lumière draws us in and conveys the diversity of its emotions across time and borders... Sonepar is proud to sponsor this work by Lightning Hope, which promises to be rich in emotion and discovery!
The history of the Fête des Lumières and Sonepar France
In 1989, the “Plan Lumière” was launched. The aim of this urban lighting plan was to highlight the architecture of 300 buildings in order to improve the image of the city center at night. Some of the city's most prestigious sites and monuments are thus transcended by their illumination, bringing life to Lyon's nightlife.
In 1999, the city of Lyon decided to create a 4-day festival around December 8, “Lyon Lumière”, as part of its lighting plan. Since then, Sonepar France has contributed its know-how and experience in lighting, whether in terms of environmental quality, safety or aesthetics.
To date, there are 60 institutional and private partners from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Companies also support the Fête des Lumières by becoming partners. Since its creation, it has encouraged exchanges between companies and the economic, artistic, cultural and institutional players in the region.
